I’d registered for a baby carrier for my shower, a nice $30 one that looked comfortable and decent enough. That is, until we actually had a baby to put in it. I tried using it around the house when Ben was being fussy and also went for a walk with him in it. Within 20 minutes, every time I wore it, my back started killing me. This was NOT going to work. I started researching baby carriers online and found again and again one called the Ergo received amazing ratings. The only downside…the price…around $100. How could anyone seriously spend that much on a baby carrier?
Turns out, we did ;-) We still had a bunch of gift cards for Babies R Us, so I returned the first carrier and used some gift cards to buy this 70s lime green gem. Ok admittedly I really wanted the grey version (it’s a little less in your face) but Babies R Us only carries the green one. I had to buy it online too (bummer since I have a bunch of 20% off coupons that can only be used in store). The lime greenyness is starting to grow on me though.
I’ve only had it a week and only used it around the house, but man what a difference. It distributes Ben’s weight evenly and is so comfortable! I have yet to use it for an extreme hiking/geocaching adventure…but I’m confident it’d perform well there too. You’re supposed to buy an “infant insert” for an extra $25 for babies under 4 months. I’m just using a rolled up towel now though, placed under Ben’s bottom to boost him up a little and rolled behind his neck to give him more support. He’s sleeping nicely :)
