Scribble and Scrabble

Technology abounds

So apparently I need to blog more :) At least I know someone reads this thing, lol, thanks TR.

I bought a camera! My first dslr to be exact, the Canon Rebel Xs. I found it on Craigslist and met up with the young couple selling it last week. They’d gotten it as a gift for Christmas a few years ago and had never learned how to use it (they just used their little point and shoot instead). So I bought the body, 18-55mm and 55-250mm IS lenses, bag, SD card and all the wires and stuff for $350. Amazing deal since it’d hardly been used at all. Part of it will be a Christmas present from my mom & Paul, dad & Leslie and hubby. So that doesn’t leave too much for me to actually pay for myself :) I’ve started a 12 week online tutorial that teaches you how to use the camera. I love their homework and lessons because they’re really hands on and you can SEE how different settings affect your image. If you’re interested, ask me for the pdfs and I can pass them along.

Fall Geocaching November Geocaching

I took the camera along this weekend when we went geocaching. It was too gorgeous here to not get outside, I mean 60s in November is unheard of! See more of the pics here, all on automatic setting mind you. I’m working up to the whole “manual operation” thing! And none of the images have been through photoshop, because honestly, I just didn’t feel like it ;-)

LG Chocolate TouchI also bought a new phone. The whole time Andy teased me “What would Dave Ramsey do?” – google him. He’s a financial/money/savings guy who has a great program that we did through our church. I have a great amount of respect for him and think his advice is very wise and is something families should implement in their budget. However, Dave Ramsey didn’t have a flip phone that was falling apart and he wasn’t seduced by the dark side of touch screen phones. Yes, I was seduced…they’re so much fun and so unnecessary, but oh so beautiful. I bought the LG Chocolate Touch and do love it :)

And concluding this post on technology, I have to mention that Google street view has now gone down our road and stolen our privacy. I was so happy for the longest time because their little camera car had gotten the roads all around us but had let ours be. But now they have us. It’s an awesome technology, but still a little freaky. I think Google is going for world domination, but, yeah…

PS – Aren’t Micro SD cards the cutest thing ever?
