My dad and Leslie rented a cabin on Keuka Lake for a week. We headed down and spent a few days with them, Gabby, Danielle, Chris, Justin and Kate. Kayaking, fishing, board games, swimming, eating and all sorts of family fun. Long post with pictures in random order :)

My boys treated me to a nice, low key Mother’s Day today. Andy made me breakfast and dinner and gave me a “Happy Mother’s Day from the Cat” card (which was hilarious). I actually received my “real” (part birthday) gift a few weeks ago, a super awesome blender/food processor. I joked that it’s kind of lame to ask for a household appliance for your birthday, but I was so sick of our blender not being able to chop ice or be even slightly useful. Andy actually found an industrial model like the ones used at Starbucks, on ebay. The guy selling it ironically lived in our town so Andy picked it up from him and saved on shipping. I LOVE it, it’s way more appliance that I could have ever hoped for.
This post isn’t about blenders though. Today I was thinking about all my friends who have been trying and waiting years to be called Mommy. And thinking of those who don’t have their mothers with them anymore. Today was about being thankful for my little buddy Benjamin and his baby sister we’ll meet soon. Thankful that I get to be their mommy and thankful that my mom, step mom and mother in law are a part of all our lives.

Ben got to eat ice cream on the living room floor for the first time today. Because, you know, part of my awesome Mother’s Day was spent watching Star Wars with my family :)

Andy left one of his notepads sitting on the table.

The dishwasher started acting funny and wouldn’t finish its cycles. Andy opened her up and had a look.

He found a few common issues other people had while troubleshooting online. The manufacturer wanted people to buy a new control board for $150 to fix the problem. Andy found a bad solder joint that was the problem on the board.

5 minutes later, all better. I’m so thankful for Handy Andy, without him we’d have to call someone to fix it, like…normal people do…

The only down side to being married to an evil genius, is that one of our bedrooms downstairs looks like this. Where’s Waldo? And that’s not even the garage with all the power tools and heavy equipment ;-)

Sometimes Andy and Ben watch train videos on YouTube together. Followed by videos of how to take apart car engines. And then videos of trucks crashing into each other…
