We celebrated Ben’s 5th birthday last month. He’s such a fun, interesting little guy. Loves his legos, star wars, kitties, chicken wings and figuring out how to spell words (all the time). He’s full of questions, a good thing, but exhausting because it’s so constant :) Ben’s doing great in school too, excellent first quarter report from his teacher. He’s started reading too, it’s the coolest thing! Just very basic things now, but he’s definitely soaking it all up like a sponge.
He’s such a sweet guy too. The other day Cassidy got mad about something (occurs daily…hourly…) and ran into her room and slammed the door. Ben knocked on the door and asked if he could give her a hug to make her feel better. Cassidy promptly opened the door, screamed “NO BEN!” and slammed the door in his face. He came back and said “Cassidy’s not very nice today.” I told him we have to love her anyway ;-)
We had such a fun time celebrating Ben’s birthday with friends and family :)

We don’t go all out for Halloween, but the kids do love dressing up and having some fun. Ben wanted to be a mummy this year (for some reason he’s big into Scooby Doo and the scary monsters even though I think he’s seen like 5 minutes of one episode). Lucky for us a friend had a homemade mummy costume she let us have since her kids outgrew it.
I’ve tried to pair the kids’ costumes (while I still can). Their first year Ben was a sheep and Cassidy, Little Bo Peep. The following year we had Mike Wazowski and Sully. This year to keep with the matching theme, Cassidy was a werewolf, another monster. I just found some of Ben’s old clothes and she got to wear the wolf hat they’d been gifted last year. Hooray for free costumes!
The kids got to dress up for the library program, Ben has a school party, there’s a little harvest party at the Y and then we’ll visit the neighbors on Saturday night. So they’ll get a lot of mileage out of the costumes this year. All in good fun :)

The kids and I played at the park this weekend, it was beautiful out! I took along my camera just for fun.

These pics are from a few months ago (…like 5 months ago…) but Ben did some kiddie yoga classes at the Y. Miss Kim did an excellent job with them and Ben really enjoyed himself. Cassidy and I hung out with my friend Amanda and her little guy Peirce while the big kids did their class. Fun times!
