We’ve been enjoying the beautiful weather this week! The kids love playing outside barefoot, or as Cassidy calls it “wearing her feet” :) I don’t mind too much, a quick wipe down with a wash cloth and they’re good to go when we come inside. I remember running around barefoot when I was 7 or 8 and I stepped on a bee though (I haven’t told them this). Hopefully they don’t get to live that experience!
Cassidy still doesn’t like getting her picture taken. And Ben enjoys hamming it up for the camera.

Every once in a while we get ourselves to the Home Depot project for kids. This one happened to be the weekend before Easter and the kids made little Easter baskets. If we’re being honest, Andy and I did all the hammering and the kids just painted their project :)

Taking a break from sharing our Hawaii trip, there are still so many more photos to go through!
Before we left, we had the chance to go to Bristol’s open house. It’s a lawn and garden center that holds a spring event every year for families. The kids loved it, I thought it was pretty cute too. There was a bounce house, crafts, animals and of course all the cool plants and flowers to look at.

My dad and Leslie took us out to one of their favorite restaurants. It definitely got points for atmosphere, I kept waiting for a mermaid to pop out of the water! I had the coconut shrimp, it was delicious!

One of the things Ben was most excited about in Hawaii were the coconuts.

Andy actually found one floating in the water by my dad and Leslie’s house. He set to work opening it up!

We gave this one to Leslie to plant. She planted a pineapple and it’s growing, it will be neat to see if anything happens with the coconut.

Ben really wanted to try and eat one so Andy picked up a coconut from the grocery store later that day.

We cut a hole in it and let the coconut water drain out.

Ben’s face is priceless! Drinking and tasting the coconut wasn’t quite what he’d thought it would be :) Definitely not as sweet as he’d expected. The kids did think it was all pretty fun though!

Tour guide Leslie pointed out this YMCA camp as we passed on the way to the beach. It was used on the show LOST as the “Others” camp. Since being home Andy and I have started watching the show again on Netflix and WOW it’s totally Hawaii!

This was one of those adventures that didn’t exactly turn out as planned. We started out on the trail along the beach, it was going to be a mile in and we were supposed to find monk seals. Leslie had seen them there several times before. The trail was a bit rocky but really flat and not that bad…except the kids kept running and wiping out. Seriously, like falling five times between the two of them. We used up all our bandaids, but they didn’t help the whining and complaining. I’m not sure what the issue was but we finally decided to call the trail quits and headed down to the beach.

It was really beautiful here, the mountains just immediately jutted up from the ocean.

Cassidy unhappy about life. Grandma trying to salvage the situation.

Sandy butt!

The kids ended up having a blast playing down by the water. Waves were too big to swim in, but they had fun running away from them. We found lots of pieces of coral and little treasures here too. It ended up being a nice adventure after all :)
