Ben asked for some “science experiments” for Christmas :) He got a Star Wars “lightsaber” crystal growing kit which he had fun doing with Andy.

Cassidy wanted to help too!

Mixing parts together.

Checking the timer, ten minutes seems like foreeeeever when you’re six years old.

Our crystals after three days.

After five days.

After seven days we washed them and scraped off extra bits from the sides.

Ben inspecting his crystals. They look good enough to build a lightsaber!

Andy’s super green LED light from Christmas made a reappearance.

Science!

Seems appropriate to post this today as it’s Cassidy’s half birthday, she’s 3.5! We surprised her with a big kid bed and new Frozen sheets for Christmas. She’d been perfectly content in her crib and we were both pretty happy with the arrangement…but figured it was probably time to make the switch. She’s been doing great, stays in at night and has quiet time in the afternoon. I think we’re officially done with naps but she’s got books, puzzles and quiet toys for the afternoon while I work downstairs. Fun fact, Andy’s dad actually made the bed and it was Andy’s growing up.

Mooooooom, stop with the pictures!

From the depths of my SD card, Halloween costume pictures!
We actually went trick or treating at Becky and Jared’s because they have a nice little neighborhood. It was fun, we hung out, got pizza and the dads took kids out to a few houses. Ben really wanted to be a swamp monster so we borrowed a dinosaur costume from a friend and called it a swamp monster ;-) Cassidy was Sully from Monsters Inc. Love my cute little monsters!

We have this craft bin (ok, it’s really a cardboard box I cut down to fit into a spot in the closet). It holds everything the kids use for their “projects.” Paper, glue, scissors, stickers, crayons, markers, stamps, pom poms, plastic jewels, egg cartons and all sorts of randomness. They absolutely love it and it can usually keep them occupied for over a half hour. I love it too :)
