Baby Stuff

Baby “crap” seemed too strong, but that’s kind of the direction I’m thinking. Right now we have a swing in Ben’s room that he likes, a pack n play in the sun porch that’s handy when I’m working sometimes and for travel and then a play gym/mat that he’s really into. As he gets older though the baby stuff gets larger and more obnoxious.

What are your thoughts on all the exersaucers, jumperoos, bouncers, walkers and doorway bouncers? Did you find them helpful? Did your kiddo enjoy time in them? I know every baby is different, but I’m just asking because I’m terrified to crap up my house with large primary colored plastic “things” that make noise. I mean I know Ben lives here and is a part of the family too…but the house is only so big. And we don’t have an attic or basement.

Are there compact versions of these items? We got a space saver high chair similar to this one because we didn’t really have room for a full sized high chair in the kitchen.

Should I be terrified of these or am I just being silly? Are giant plastic flashy things just part of babyhood?

Icicles

Thanks to no attic and little insulation we have these beauties all winter. We’re adding more insulation as we update rooms, but in the mean time it’s Andy’s job to knock all of the icicles down before they tear out the gutters or something. The window in our living room has a little condensation on it too, someday it’ll be replaced with a sliding glass door.

Random Thoughts

I do believe we’ve figured out the naptime thing…10:30-12 and 1:30-3:30

I wish I was an illustrator *drool* For some reason my lines just don’t portray the same things hers do.

I want to be an art teacher someday and do this project with kids. I wonder who the Taylor Lautners and Hillary Duffs will be then.

I’m contemplating making Ben’s baby food (in the blender) and freezing it in ice cube trays. I’m not sure if it’d be any cheaper or worth the effort though. We don’t have to go down that road for another few months still.

We’re watching the super bowl this weekend with friends, I don’t know who’s playing. And what the heck is a terrible towel?

This is cute, I need more skirts.

I did one too many Super Benny’s yesterday and my arms are killing me. I also got a tetanus shot at the doctors and that isn’t helping.

Blunt

I went to a new doctor today, mainly because I haven’t had a regular primary care doctor since before college and also because I was running out of blood pressure meds. Yeah, that’s still an issue. Well not really an issue, as it’s being controlled well on medicine but I haven’t gone back to the 120s/70s that I was before my pregnancy.

So the doctor is a no-nonsense, tell it like it is kind of lady. She’s nice and was friendly, she just wouldn’t be my first choice to invite to a tea party. We were doing the physical and she asked “So how big was your baby?” I told her he was 7lbs 10oz, about average. She came back with “Well he certainly trashed your tummy” and then something about how stretch marks would fade over time.

And honestly, I thought it was hilarious. It’s true, there’s no getting around it, but my goodness who says that out loud? Haha, it didn’t infuriate me or anything, it actually endeared the lady to me. Oh well, no more bikinis for me…I wasn’t ever entirely comfortable in them anyway ;-)

Oh yeah, and she’s originally from Lockport/Newfane…weird…
