Pumpkin Hook

We’ve had such beautiful fall days lately! Leaves aren’t quite at their peak (give them another week or so) but we’ve really taken advantage of the nice weather. This week we visited Pumpkin Hook, one of our favorite parks. It’s out in the country and so pretty (bonus, there’s usually nobody else there).
Rolling down a hill = childhood!
Cat in the Hat is one of Cassidy’s new favorite buddies :)
Since it gets dark by 7pm now it’s getting harder to get outside and play at night. So thankful we managed to fit it in and burn off some of the crazies.
Ben is 6!

We celebrated Ben’s 6th birthday this weekend! It was an Octonaut theme, he really likes them and at the moment wants to be an underwater explorer when he grows up. We had some family and friends over and Ben picked a friend from the bus to invite. First time inviting a new friend, it was kind of a big deal :)
Our gift to Ben was an XS snowmobile helmet so he can go on rides with Andy this winter. He got a few slow rides around the yard last year, but if he wants to go on the trails he needs a helmet. Little bobblehead!
Cassidy and Brielle were into Ben’s Pokemon cards.
We lucked out with great weather and the kids got to play outside for a bit!
Ben and his new friend Lincoln enjoyed powerwheels, nerf guns and running around outside.
Ben couldn’t wait to open his Octonaut gift after everyone went home.
This morning he dug right into his lego sets too! The pirate ship shirt kills me, my mom gave it to him for the first day of school and he LOVES it. I need to start washing it less so he doesn’t have it to wear as soon as it comes back upstairs ;-)
Thanks to everyone who came out to help us celebrate Ben! I don’t know how he’s 6 already but we love him, I think we’ll keep him :)
Snug as a bug

It’s a pillowcass! Part of me is a little embarrassed to admit my 3.25 year old is still in her crib. The other part of me knows she hasn’t tried to climb out, doesn’t know anything different and stays put :) So for now, I’m not going to rock the boat. Haha, poor girl, maybe she’ll get a big kid bed by the time she gets to PreK next fall!
Fairies

The week before school started my mom met us at the Tinker Nature Center in Henrietta. It’s been on my list of local places to explore for a while and I’m so glad we got the chance to! We played on the playground and had a picnic but the highlight was a trail through the woods and all the adorable fairy houses that were set up.
We even found a mama and baby deer in the woods. Can you see them?
Ocean City NJ

I headed to Ocean City NJ this weekend with my Y girlfriends. It was SO nice to get together because we’ve all found ourselves in different towns and parts of life now…to have a ladies weekend away with a few of them was wonderful. Some of us ran the half marathon, some ran the 5k and some just went for a long weekend away :)
Friday night we walked around the boardwalk and went out to dinner for seafood.
Saturday morning we walked around town and explored some shops. We all got pedicures too, anything to improve race times ;-)
I forgot to grab a picture of the house we rented, but it was very similar to these. We had the second floor with a super cute balcony. 4 bedroom, 2 bath with a big kitchen and livingroom, it was really nice. Bonus that it was off season and fairly cheap split 5 ways.
Saturday was quite a bit colder and gloomier but we still headed to the beach. We had such a fun time just strolling and checking out the sights.
Saturday night Sue was our tour guide and led us to the bridge for the island. We got to see a beautiful sunset over the bay.
We just chilled at our rental house Saturday night. I actually read a little bit of a book too :) This picture was hanging on one of the walls and reminded me of Ben and Cassidy. I missed the little ones but it was so nice to not have to answer questions every 3 seconds.
Sunday morning Julie and I woke up early and headed to the beach to watch the sunrise. Our house was only two blocks from shore, it was perfect.
After they headed out, Julie and I started our 5k race. I’d originally signed up for the half marathon but got halfway through training and my knees were killing me (even with new sneakers). I was so thankful Beth took my spot in the half and I decided to just do 3 miles instead of 13. Our 5k was right on the boardwalk, it was really pretty.
Beth finishing up her half marathon!
It was such a beautiful day for a race!
Wish we’d gotten more time away, but the 3 days were so much fun. We headed to the beach for an hour after the race to just chill and got to see a really neat airshow too. Even the ride home (although long because we got stuck outside of Philly) was fun, talking and rockin’ out to Jill’s mixed CD of 80s and 90s songs. Good times ladies, love you guys!
