I took Cassidy to get her first hair cut a few weeks ago, it was getting a little long and scraggly. She sat and waited patiently while Ben got his trim and then was SO excited when it was her turn. She did great and of course Amy was great with her. Cassidy loved her girl time at the salon, super cute picture warning :)

Teenage Cassidy???

We spent a few days at Andy’s parents’ house for Thanksgiving this year. My mom, Paul and Gabby joined us for dinner and Kate popped over with Brielle for a little bit that afternoon. It was such a nice time spent with family. Dinner and desserts were pretty amazing too :)

Anyone want some leftovers? :)

We really lucked out and had beautiful WARM weather (50s and 60s) over the holiday this year. We took the kids to the park to run some extra energy off. Minus a giant meltdown from Ben, it was a fun adventure and good to be outside at the end of November.

We also spent some time just chilling and watching movies together. Andy and his dad set up their Christmas tree too and the kids were super excited to see it when they got up from nap. Speaking of naps, I was telling my mom that Cassidy still stayed in her crib and had never climbed out of the pack n play and we were super lucky. Wouldn’t you know 5 minutes after having that conversation we heard a “thud” and “scurry, scurry, scurry” from upstairs. She climbed out of her pack n play for the first time and was wandering around the bedroom upstairs!

We headed home Friday night and as I was unpacking all our stuff, Andy was packing all his gear for another hunting weekend. Saturday morning I picked up an international student from our church and headed to Victor’s Christmas in the Village. Sylvia is from Uganda and had actually spent Thanksgiving with another family in our church, but it was fun to show her some of our holiday festivities with the kids. We did a cute story and activity time at the library and walked around the village for a bit. It started to rain so we didn’t do the wagon ride or some of the other events, but went out to lunch and had a nice afternoon. I didn’t get any pictures because it was hard enough keeping track of the kids and they weren’t being terribly cooperative, but it was still a pretty fun outing. I enjoyed getting to know Sylvia a bit more too, definitely neat meeting people with different cultural backgrounds and life experiences :)
We celebrated Ben’s 5th birthday last month. He’s such a fun, interesting little guy. Loves his legos, star wars, kitties, chicken wings and figuring out how to spell words (all the time). He’s full of questions, a good thing, but exhausting because it’s so constant :) Ben’s doing great in school too, excellent first quarter report from his teacher. He’s started reading too, it’s the coolest thing! Just very basic things now, but he’s definitely soaking it all up like a sponge.
He’s such a sweet guy too. The other day Cassidy got mad about something (occurs daily…hourly…) and ran into her room and slammed the door. Ben knocked on the door and asked if he could give her a hug to make her feel better. Cassidy promptly opened the door, screamed “NO BEN!” and slammed the door in his face. He came back and said “Cassidy’s not very nice today.” I told him we have to love her anyway ;-)
We had such a fun time celebrating Ben’s birthday with friends and family :)

I did family photos for a friend at a local park last weekend. We really lucked out, it was a beautiful day and there were still some colors on the trees. I had a lot of fun trying out some new compositions and the kids were great. Beth and Andy weren’t too bad either ;-)

I got the chance to take fall family pictures for Becky and Jared this past weekend. The weather was great and they picked a beautiful spot in Mendon Ponds Park that I’d never been to before. It must have been the afternoon for family photos because on the way in and out I saw 4 other families getting their pictures taken ;-) I love fall. And I love them!

We don’t go all out for Halloween, but the kids do love dressing up and having some fun. Ben wanted to be a mummy this year (for some reason he’s big into Scooby Doo and the scary monsters even though I think he’s seen like 5 minutes of one episode). Lucky for us a friend had a homemade mummy costume she let us have since her kids outgrew it.
I’ve tried to pair the kids’ costumes (while I still can). Their first year Ben was a sheep and Cassidy, Little Bo Peep. The following year we had Mike Wazowski and Sully. This year to keep with the matching theme, Cassidy was a werewolf, another monster. I just found some of Ben’s old clothes and she got to wear the wolf hat they’d been gifted last year. Hooray for free costumes!
The kids got to dress up for the library program, Ben has a school party, there’s a little harvest party at the Y and then we’ll visit the neighbors on Saturday night. So they’ll get a lot of mileage out of the costumes this year. All in good fun :)
