Ben is 4 and a half, well he was a few weeks ago (I’m a little behind on the blog). He’s doing awesome in PreK, loving school and his friends. He’s recently gotten into superheroes (spiderman, captain america, batman, the hulk and everyone in between). He’s never actually watched any super hero movies other than a few Lego ones on Netflix, but he’s in love. Loves his legos too, he’s certainly enjoying my old legos from when I was a kid.
He’s not into sports or anything other than kicking a ball around. I signed him up for a kiddie yoga class at the Y and he’s really enjoying that. I’m surprised how well he listens to the teacher and asks questions, then does some of the animal moves at home. It seems to have really piqued his interest.
The poor kid got his first flu and first ear infection a few weeks ago as well. I felt so terrible, he threw up in the middle of the night but never called for help so he slept in it :( And then kept apologizing for “burping” in the morning. It passed rather quick though and he was a champ.
The boy can also talk talk talk talk talk from morning to night. Talking in the car, at the dinner table, while I’m reading a story, while I’m going to the bathroom, while I’m doing laundry. Never.Stops.Talking. He has a lot to say!
Love this kid.

We got new team shirts for the race this year.

We didn’t plan on it being in the 80s on race day though, all of our training had been over the winter and in freezing temps. We ended up wearing our tank tops.

We totally lucked out, the windows on our hotel room floor had an awesome view of the start line. While the half marathon ladies headed out early, because I was the last leg of the relay I got to sit and watch the elite runners, bikers, half and full marathons start.

I didn’t get any pictures of us during the race, but this is our team afterwards! Jill, Jacquie, Rachel, Heidi and I were on the relay team. We split the full marathon into 5 legs. Cheryl, Jodi, Beth, Patty, Sue and Lexi all ran a half marathon.

We each wore a “Runner girl” jamberry for our races too.

You ladies are awesome and I’m so honored to run with you. I’ve learned so much about myself as we’ve tackled hills, blizzards, blisters, injuries, heat and miles in between together. Laughing and solving the world’s problems with you is just awesome, it makes the running part worth it ;-)
Saturday morning we waited at our first hotel for our last relay team member. Afterwards we all headed into downtown Pittsburgh together.

We checked in at our second hotel that had this neat “green” wall and hanging sculptures.

The weather was absolutely beautiful, flowers blooming and bright blue skies.

Saturday afternoon we headed to the race Expo at the convention center.

After the Expo (and all the free stuff) we headed to dinner at the Spaghetti Warehouse!

Saturday night we had a nice, quiet evening back in our hotel room. Jill even did our nails :) Then it was nighty night time before race day.

This past weekend I headed to Pittsburgh with some of the Y ladies. We had a race planned for Sunday, but did a ton of other stuff beforehand. Friday morning we hit the road after the kids were dropped off at school. Thanks mom for watching Cassidy and picking Ben up :) We stopped at Grove City Outlets for lunch and some shopping and then headed to our hotel in Cranberry Township, PA.
One of the girls, Julie, is getting married in a few weeks so we threw her a surprise bachelorette party!

We grilled and played games out on the patio.

Someone in the hotel had actually set off the fire alarms by cooking in their room. The fire department had to come clear everything, but being a bachelorette party, we asked if they would take some pictures with us. They were such good sports ;-)

It was such a fun and gorgeous evening!

We got to visit Becky and Jared’s new baby girl this week, she’s the sweetest :) Ben loved her and wanted to show her his Legos. Cassidy got a huge lip quiver and burst into tears when I held her (she did the same thing when I held Brielle at Easter). Jealous much? I’m so excited to be an Auntie to little miss Maddie!

Cassidy is 21 months old! She is little miss attitude and knows exactly what she wants (from books, to shoes, to coats to which toy she brings in the car…she’s incredibly particular). I always remember Ben being Mr. Chill, Cassidy is NOT ;-) She lets you know with a sweet “Yeah!” or emphatic “Nooooo!” She also still screams, a lot. I’m scared of the two’s and three’s because if the past few months are any indication we’re in for a wild ride!
She’s using sentences more and more. Some recent ones are “Help shoes mommy”, “Ew yucky daddy”, “Ba kiss kiss” (wants a kiss from Ben), “Uh oh where ducky.” She also giggles hysterically when someone toots (Ben capitalizes on the opportunity).
She loves Elmo, duckies, books and her kitties. Still adores her brother, although they love.yell.love.yell.love each other. Most mornings start with Cassidy crying “Mommy!” from her crib (funny how they never call for daddy…). Ben responds with a scream from his room “Cassidy be quiet you’re hurting my ears!” To which Cassidy screams “MOMMY!” louder. It goes back and forth until I drag my carcass out of bed and attend to them, all usually happening before 7am.
Getting into a mess.

Getting into another mess.

Snacks are yummy.

Cheeks!

No more snack :(

Cassidy Joy, from screams…

To smiles in a second :)
