Earlier this week my step mom’s mother passed away and we went home for the wake and funeral. I’d only been a step grandchild, but Marge was an amazing woman who made you feel like you were part of her family no matter how you stumbled into the mix. In the past 7 years of knowing her I’d always get a birthday card and when Andy and I moved out here we made her adult Christmas card list too ;-)

At the funeral one of her daughters (1 of 7 kids!) said there are two types of people in this world, if you could simplify it down. There are people that walk into a room and go “I’m here!” And then there are people who walk into a room and say “You’re here!”

Grandma Smith was definitely one to say “You’re here.” I’d like to be like that.

She leaves 7 kids, 30 grandkids and Ben was included as her first great grand kid (although she was never able to meet him). Nibbles the dachshund also made it into the obituary ;-) Margaret M. Smith – Lockport Union-Sun & Journal
