This Memorial weekend we worked overtime on the sunporch and “hot tub” room. Here’s the scoop – the square footage of our house included these two rooms that weren’t livable and were unfinished. The sun porch is on the 2nd level, off of the livingroom and kitchen. The “hot tub” room is directly below the sunporch on the bottom level. It contained an old hot tub the previous previous owners left, but will eventually be my office with a back storage room. I’ll have to stop calling it the hot tub room now ;-) With the help of Andy’s parents, brother Jared, our friends Heather & Eli, and food donated from my mom and Paul…we accomplished a lot this weekend.
For a while there, the poor side of the house looked like a burn victim (or a run down drug dealers house), but with the house wrap on it actually looks pretty great. I’m really excited to see the vision actually unfolding and these rooms really becoming part of the house :) This weekend we accomplished the following:
- – Removed rotten wood
– Ripped out catwalk deck
– Reframed walls
– Added new windows
– Started to support sunporch with new wood
– Cinder block work in the Office
– And a lot more!
The family will be coming back in June to help us fully support the sunporch with steel beams, put 600sq ft of yellow siding up, put in the bay window at the end of the office, build a mini roof over the end of the office (instead of a flat roof that was part of the deck), and do other finishing work.
