The week before Thanksgiving Ben’s class had a pilgrim feast in school. He loved the hat they made so much he wore it all afternoon and while we were out running errands.
Ben is really enjoying school, he always comes home singing the songs from class and telling me stories they read. His parent-teacher conference was a few weeks ago and I found out School Ben is very similar to Home Ben. He loves learning new things, is a very good friend to the other kids, gets super excited for new projects and generally loves life. He recognizes most of his letters (uppercase and lowercase), can count to 40 and is starting to put together words like “stop” and his name (which he can write). He also needs to be told several times to stay on task and reminded to listen while others are speaking and wait his turn ;-) He’s informed me he had to sit in time out several times because he was being “too silly and not listening to Mrs. G” *hangs head*
I wasn’t surprised at all by the meeting, Ben is a pretty young guy compared to his peers (October birthday) and this is his first school experience. Academically he’s super bright, emotionally and socially there’s room for growth. Looking forward to seeing him develop more this school year!
We had our first real snow, thankfully not NEARLY as much as Bflo has been getting though. I suited the kids up and we headed outside. Ben loved making snowballs and carting them around in his sled. Cassidy was a little hesitant about the whole thing but put up with it until she started taking her gloves off and realized the snow was cold. Love these two <3

Ben and I went to watch my friend Anna’s hockey game last night. He loved the zamboni machine, thought the game music was pretty cool and was interested in the game until about halftime. I think it’s so cool Anna is part of the women’s community team, it was really neat to watch her play!

The kids were Sully and Mike from Monsters Inc for Halloween. Cassidy wore her costume to the Y for a bit but wasn’t much of a fan so we pinned it to the baby carrier later. Ben dressed up for school and had a little parade that we got to watch. The kids were so cute, smiling and waving at their parents in the hallways.
We had planned on going to the “Pumpkin Party” at our old church, they have games and bounce houses and tons of activities…but Cassidy was pretty miserable after dinner and Ben was incredibly moody so we decided to just visit the neighbors instead. It ended up being a nice family evening anyway, Ben was quite chatty with all our neighbors and I think they enjoyed seeing the kids’ costumes.

These were lost in the labyrinth of my computer, but when we visited my mom’s cottage over the summer we also went to Olcott Beach Carousel Park. It’s a super cute amusement park meant for little kids with rides just their size. The best part, tickets for each ride only cost 25 cents!

The day after Ben turned 4 he asked to take a shower. It kind of surprised me, I’d never even suggested it before. But a shower he took, and he loved it. He can scrub himself down, just needs help squirting shampoo on his head. Then he plays in the water for a few minutes afterward. I actually like it a LOT better than giving him a bath, but it does seem kind of grown up to me *sniff*
