Scribble and Scrabble

This weekend

This weekend we headed to Lockport to get our taxes done. Afterwards we spent the afternoon with my dad, Leslie and family. They’re moving to New Jersey next month when he takes a position at a new Air Force base. So we wanted to get as much time in with them as possible.

Chris showed my dad Angry Birds on Andy’s Xoom.

We had Mighty Taco for lunch but Leslie made us jambalaya for dinner. Ben’s favorite part of dinner was dessert, his very own chocolate chip cookie.

Macy was a very brave kitty this time and watched Ben from behind the couch. Her mommy Marilyn wasn’t quite as adventurous, we didn’t see her all day.

I also got to visit with my friend Allison who happened to be back in town. Her husband is stationed with the Army in Italy and she was back in the states to pick up their kitty.

This weekend my sister Danielle starred as Maria in her college’s The Sound of Music. Ben and I headed to Lockport Friday afternoon. We stayed with my stepmom Leslie and visited with family that night.

Saturday morning my mom picked Ben up to watch him for the rest of the weekend. Myself, Leslie, Gabby, Christopher, some friends and aunts and uncles all headed down to Mansfield to watch Danielle. I sat in the back of the minivan, I remember it being roomier when I was a kid :)

We headed to Danielle’s apartment to visit before the show. All of her adoring fans took up her livingroom and I hope we didn’t scare her roommates too much :) Danielle paid Gabby $1 to download some cat photo app on her iPhone and we all got a kick out of it.

Danielle is in her senior year at Mansfield and did an amazing job in the show. She can sing like you wouldn’t believe! And she made a gorgeous Maria.

We headed back to Lockport after the show Saturday night. Sunday, I went to my mom and Paul’s cottage on the lake to pick up Mr. Benjamin. He had a great time and I was SO thankful they were able to watch him (you know, it being such an inconvenience and all).

My little travel buddy did great the whole weekend (although he wasn’t too thrilled about the broccoli being served in the above picture)! And if you were wondering where Andy was in all of this…I couldn’t convince him seeing a musical would be a fun idea (even with Danielle as the lead). So he got himself a little man weekend, staying up until 3am with no consequences and finishing some projects he had laying around.

Birthday weekend

Andy’s parents spent the day with us Saturday. We had pizza, cake and enjoyed each others company. There were also more birthday presents!

Part of Andy’s dad’s present was a box full of old video game goodies (he collects them).

Ben was fascinated with the Nintendo cartridge. Ancient technology :)

Andy received a Backyard Ballistics book from his brother.

It’s baby’s first angle grinder! Haha, really just another gift for Andy.

We gave Andy’s mom a gift card for Joann Fabrics.

Hooray for birthdays!

They’re so much fun!

Happenings

A bunch of images that didn’t really fit except in a random post together…

I made cookie mix in a jar as Christmas presents for our neighbors and the girls who do babysitting at the Y. The recipe came from here.

Ben helped Andy fix the vacuum a few weeks ago. Don’t worry, it wasn’t on. Although Ben loves it and waddles around after me when I’m vacuuming.

Andy taught me how to sell things on ebay this weekend. Ben wanted in on the action.

After church today Andy made us grilled cheese and tomato soup. Like anything he does though, he brought a level of excellence to it. He pulled out the extra virgin olive oil, spices and special cheeses. The soup had garlic and shredded cheddar cheese in it. I’m sure if we had homemade bread our sandwiches would have been made with it too. Yummy!

I bought curtains for the kitchen windows. I made the valances last year but have just felt like I was in a fish bowl in the kitchen at nighttime. The curtains look like they were meant to be there and really help with privacy at night. Andy even trusted me to install the tieback rods by myself too. You don’t understand, me and math and making permanent holes in his newly finished walls is just a combination for disaster :)

We had friends that live down the road over for dinner last week. The next day their 4 year old daughter Bella drew this picture for us. She did a great job, I even have bangs! I think it’s funny Andy has hair and I have a dress though. When have you ever seen me wear a dress?

Christmas Part 2

We also visited my dad, Leslie and family over Christmas. We helped them pick out a Christmas tree.

Then we decorated.

Gabby taught me how to make snowflakes (can you believe I never learned!)

We strung them up on the ceiling.

Chris hung the stockings.

We exchanged gifts.

Like Jared, Chris received a piece of fake poop from Andy.

Ben liked to play with it (sorry, I had to, haha).

My dad received a moose hat. I think Danielle is rolling her eyes at Andy because of the poop.

Ben also played peekaboo with Leslie.

There was much family snuggling.

Then the usual family game of Skip-Bo. We had a wonderful time, love you guys!

Christmas

This Christmas the three of us spent a really nice morning together.

Ben loved the wrapping paper.

And the boxes!

My mom and Paul came for dinner later in the evening.

They gave us Bacon, it was hysterical.

So much fun :)

We headed to Andy’s parent’s house on Monday. Andy’s dad and Jared enjoyed playing with Ben…and his toys :)

Jared opened his piece of poop, courtesy of Andy.

We also got Jared an inflatable shark that flies through the air.

Ben wanted to play with the big boys! The shark was so cool!

Andy’s parents also had this really cute vintage village, I just had to snap a picture!
