The day before we left Hawaii my dad and Leslie’s church had a big picnic on the beach. There was so much delicious food and lots of fun with some great families. Several people were also baptized in the ocean too! It was such a perfect afternoon!

Hawaii we love you! Dad and Leslie, we love and miss you guys so much!

Until next time!

Hawaii post 19/20
One of the last nights we were visiting my dad and Leslie, someone mentioned the old base housing. That someone was probably Leslie because my dad wanted to remain blissfully ignorant of our shenanigans.
The abandoned housing tract was gated off but fairly easy to access, so after the kids went to bed Andy and I took a wander over. It was a combination of cool, creepy and surreal. I almost expected a zombie to start crawling out from under a porch. Definitely Walking Dead material!

Hawaii post 18/20 (almost done!)
After the Lighthouse Trail, we pulled over to eat our lunch in the car (because it was still raining). We watched the surfers for a bit and when it stopped raining we walked over to a lookout next to the beach. Apparently the film From Here to Eternity (1958) had a scene filmed there. I had to take my dad and Leslie’s word for it because I’ve never seen the movie!

Post 17/20 of our Hawaii trip! We did this paved, fairly easy to walk trail one foggy morning. It was pretty popular and we saw a lot of other families and groups throughout the trip. The kids did better with this hike than others but I was still giving piggy back rides before we reached the top. The trail actually went above the lighthouse too, amazing views! We lucked out with the weather as it started pouring as soon as we made it back to the car!

So I didn’t even finish all of our Hawaii pictures :-O Fitting to share these now because my dad and Leslie were just in NY visiting family for the week. Miss them already!
We headed Paradise Cove one drizzly morning (my lens kept fogging up). We had fun swimming for a bit and then a VERY territorial monk seal came up on the beach and started barking at everyone. All the beach goers moved to a different end of the cove and the seal followed, grunting and barking again. He really didn’t want anyone on his beach!

Well hi there! Several people…ok, maybe just my moms (mother in law, step mom and mom)…asked about my disappearing blog. I had Andy take it down for the summer as we were selling our house and there was a lot of renovation and family pictures on here. You’d be AMAZED on what you can find out about someone if you know where to look. We found out a lot of things about people and houses during our search, I didn’t want what we’d done to OUR house over 10 years to be out on the interwebs.
Now that we’ve closed on both our old and new houses, I’m back in business. I’ll post about our year long search for a house another time, but I wanted to share the pictures I took for our house listing. Maybe I have a future in real estate photography? Unlikely, but it was fun to use a wide angle lens and capture my house in a clean state.
Overall, it’s bittersweet. Ten years of hard work together, lots of things learned and memories made. We’re loving our new house and new adventure though!
