It was windy and raining a snowy mix today. We’d just gotten back from Wegmans and my hands were full of groceries. Mr. Pokey Pants was taking forever to get from the car to the house, dragging his stuffed animals behind him. I called for him several times and finally yelled “Benjamin, now!” He looked up with a huge grin on his face and said “Yook (look) mommy a snail!” and pointed to the little shell. My heart melted, he was so excited. I set the groceries inside the door and we held the shell for a bit then put it back in the dirt. Ben said “bye bye snail” as we went back in the house. I’m not normally sappy, but I couldn’t help but thank God for the precious gifts of both pokey toddler and little snail in my flowers.

I feel like months go by between house post updates. We’re doing work behind the scenes, but it’s a little here and a little there. Slow and steady I guess, we’re not flipping it to sell so it just seems to fit in whenever life allows. Andy’s dad came up to help drywall one of our bedrooms downstairs. Click here for the first post about this room.
It’s such a tiny little bedroom it’s hard to stand inside it and get decent pictures, but this is a view from the hallway. Andy finished framing out the closet (on the left), adding insulation and wiring up the room. The guys started with drywall on the ceiling.

We rented a drywall lift from Home Depot, totally worth it and makes the job easier. It holds the sheet of drywall up while you nail it in place.

Mr. Precision using his level.

It took all day, but the drywall is (mostly) up! I think we need to buy one more sheet to finish inside the closet.

What’s up next then? Taping the drywall joints then spackle, spackle, spackle and sand…a tedious process that oh darn, Andy doesn’t trust me to do a good enough job at ;-) He’s so efficient at it though, and then it’ll be my job to prime and paint. As always, we’re a gettin’ there.
Easter morning we headed to church together. We actually started going to a new church, a plant off of the main, big church that’s out here in our area. It was a really nice, small gathering and we’re excited to see it grow (but more on that in another post).
Before church Ben got to dig into his Easter basket. One of his gifts was a playmobile motorcycle.

And stickers.

Lots of stickers.

Later in the afternoon, family came over for dinner. We had a ton of fun with everyone :)

Ben enjoyed mooching off everyone and gulping Aunt Gabby’s chai a little too much.

Wait, there’s MORE Easter baskets?

Score!

Last weekend we held a second wedding shower for Kate with my side of the family.

My aunt Denise made cupcakes for the shower.

They were SO yummy! They were also vanilla because Kate doesn’t like chocolate (I know!!!)

Enjoying the party.

Andy’s mom! Andy’s parents actually live across the road from Justin and Kate.

Kate opening gifts.

Lots of goodies.

Some of my aunts and cousins.

Kate and her mommy!

My sister Danielle made these adorable favors (filled with candy). It was a beautiful shower and hopefully everyone had fun!

The only glitch in the day was that I’d made a double batch of pasta salad for our little ladies lunch, and then left it in my fridge 1.5 hours away. Bummer.

I had a second ultrasound last week, they just needed a few more angles of the heart. So I got more pictures of baby :) She is doing great, measuring exactly where she’s supposed to. I’m feeling good, tired but that’s nothing new. My blood pressure is starting to creep up (it started about this time with Ben too) which is a little unfortunate. So far nothing to be too concerned about, but we are keeping an eye on it. It must just be what happens to me during pregnancy, high blood pressure. I never had any symptoms of pre-eclampsia last time so hopefully the same holds true this time around…just pregnancy induced hypertension. We shall see.
In other news I think we’ve officially picked a name, Cassidy Joy :) I’m so excited, we both really like it! People who have asked “did you pick a name?” kind of do a double take when I tell them Cassidy. It’s not a weird name by any stretch, it’s just not that common maybe? I have gotten a few “Oh like Butch Cassidy”…my response is to usually just smile and nod, people are funny. I asked Ben what we should call her and his suggestion was “Crayon” so there ya go!
