Yeah, someday, probably not any time soon. But I wanted to pose a question to teachers, administrators, those who have been in the education environment or anyone who has some relevant input. I have a BFA in Graphic Design from RIT, and experience in the design field. If/when I went back to school would it be wiser to go with:
A) Masters in Art Education
B) Transitional B (alternative teacher certification)
Keep in mind I have no “education” training, just the “art” training. I don’t know how to effectively run a classroom, create lesson plans, put different theories of how to teach into practice, etc. This is something I would need to learn.
Would the Masters give me teacher training or is that something you’re supposed to learn in the 4 year Bachelor’s Education program? Is the Transitional B seen as ‘lesser’ in the eyes of school administrators interviewing applicants? Any other thoughts like “Heather you’re crazy, being a teacher sucks” – I feel like I should know these things :) And again, this won’t happen for a while, but I am curious.
