The tomatoes from our garden started exploding just as much as the cucumbers earlier in the season. I wasn’t quite sure what to do with them all. Andy suggested making tomato juice (ick – and kind of a waste) but I found a recipe for a really good salsa on my friend’s blog. I made 9 cans (8 in the picture, 1 in the fridge) and it seems like I barely even made a dent in the tomatoes. It turned out delicious though, kind of soupy, but that’s fine since I really don’t like super chunky salsa anyway.

Andy’s parents came this past weekend and helped move things along on the sunporch. I keep mentioning it, I swear it’ll be done with pictures soon! It’s all the little finishing details that seem to take forever to complete. I ended up going on a wine tour for a bachelorette party while they worked all day Saturday. I’ll post more about that sometime soon, still have to go through all the pictures. It was fun coming home and seeing “instant” progress, since I hadn’t been there slaving away all day ;-)

We’re selling my old laptop on Craigslist right now and someone offered a trade for an iPhone 3gs. I don’t think it’s going to pan out (since most people on craigslist seem incredibly unreliable and don’t get back to you) but it got me thinking about what I could do with the money. The hackintosh laptop Andy built for me is all paid for…and I really don’t need an iPhone since we have Verizon…but the iPod touch and all of its calendar, organizing, gaming, fun apps, handheld book reading, surfing, music, nerdiness are really starting to interest me. Do I need it, absolutely not. It just looks like a lot of fun! The ideal situation would be to get a Droid that has all of those capabilities and also serves as my phone…but we’re far too cheap to pay for a data plan. I’m also interested in this new camera lens but I’m not quite sure if I’m sold on it yet. Another option would be to, you know, save the money ;-)

Actually here’s a bit of humor for you, someone else was interested in trading an iPod touch for my laptop but through a series of emails we got a response that said this:

Oh, sorry.
Your g4 is powerpc, so it’s not going to work on the internet much longer.
Thanks for playing though! Good luck selling it.

What?! Seriously? Andy said “I feel like I’m getting stupider with each email back to her.” Andy doesn’t blog, but this has been his experience with the whole thing.

A lot of interesting things have been going on with Andy at work. For the longest time he’s been stuck doing board layout, something he just hates and his experience level puts him high above. He’d brought up the issue numerous times and nothing really seemed to come of it. So he dusted off his resume, had me add a little design to it and went out on some interviews. He was actually offered a position at a really great company, which he ended up declining because magically at the same time things started turning around at his current job. People took notice of him and his capabilities (I think he really lit a fire under their feet with the whole interview thing) and he’s been placed on a really cool project now that utilizes his brain and talents. I’m proud of him, for standing up and doing something about a crummy situation and really moving where he wants to in his career. He has a better potential for leadership at his current job now and I really think they recognize his value a lot more.
