You can skip this one if you could care less about baby poo and what to do with it. Sorry, this just consumes a giant part of our lives now!
Alright so it’s only been a few weeks but I really like the cloth diapers. There’s just something about snapping a soft, clean diaper onto the baby bottom…weird, right? I don’t even mind the extra two loads of laundry a week. Ben pees and spits up all the time anyway so I’m always washing something of his. I haven’t tried them overnight yet, but I’d like to soon. He’s sleeping 5-7 hours a night (so thankful!) so even the Pampers I have him in have leaked twice. We have enough size 1 and 2 diapers from my showers to last us a long time though, so there’s plenty for overnight and travel if I decide to keep using them for that.
The two I really like are Flip diapers and bumGenius. The Flips have an insert that you lay in a waterproof shell. What’s nice about these is that if the kid pees, you just take out the insert, put a new one in and reuse the shell until it gets soiled.

The bumGenius are made by the same company, but with this one the insert is stuffed into the pocket part of the diaper. I could see this being nice because the insert won’t slide around if you have a squirmy baby since it’s prestuffed into place inside the pocket. It comes with velcro closures or snap closures. I chose snaps because I heard they lasted longer and it was nice they didn’t stick to each other in the washer.

Both diapers are “one size” meaning they can be resized for smaller to larger babies. I think this is definitely a nice feature. Plus they’re just so gosh darn cute! I didn’t get the pink one, but maybe we’ll have a little girl some day so I have an excuse to ;-)

Not that I’m trying to convert you or anything, but if you had any questions about them or were curious about my washing routine let me know! And I’ll just go down in your book as that weirdo who does cloth diapers! Or the weirdo who got some good deals on them yesterday on “cyber Monday.” Yeah – we all have our quirks!
