5 years and counting

Our church is involved with Operation Christmas Child, a ministry that sends shoe boxes filled with gifts to children in developing countries. Many of them wouldn’t have a Christmas otherwise. Their mission:

To demonstrate God’s love in a tangible way to needy children around the world, and together with the local church worldwide, to share the Good News of Jesus Christ.

Well, for 5 years in a row we’ve meant to give this one little box filled with gifts. We filled it when we were still dating and forgot to hand it in. When we were at the apartment 4 years ago, we again forgot to bring it in. Then we moved to the house 3 years ago and all hope was lost as it disappeared into the depths of downstairs. It didn’t resurface until this year when my office moved to the sunporch so Ben could have a nursery. And wouldn’t you know we brought it to church this Sunday only to find out the cut off date was last week.

Poor lonely shoebox filled with gifts. Hopefully you’ll get to a child next year!
