For the past few months I’ve been looking to upgrade my camera. Last Christmas (2009) I bought the Canon Rebel XS and invested a lot of time in learning how to use it. It’s the lower end of the Canon DSLR line but I wanted more than just a point and shoot camera.

This Christmas I didn’t really ask for anything other than slippers and money towards a new camera lens. To everyone that chipped in for my lens, I hate to tell you I actually bought a whole new camera instead ;-) I’d been comparing two models and casually searching Craigslist to see if either of them came up and a really good deal popped up on the Canon T1i. I’m wary of buying computers/higher priced techy stuff used on Craigslist, but we met in a really busy coffee shop and the price was perfect. I guess he’s a Nikon guy and had asked for a specific Nikon lens for Christmas, but grandpa had gotten him a Canon camera instead. Uhm, thanks grandpa. No, seriously I wish people would give me gifts like that…but it wasn’t what he needed so he was selling it brand new in box with no clicks on it. Awesome!

So now I’m selling my Canon XS on craigslist (with the 18-55mm lens) if you know anyone who’s interested :) I’ve been contacted by a few of Rochester’s finest (no I will not drop my price by $250, no I will not deliver) but I’m sure the camera will have a new home soon. That money will go towards my new lens! And Andy’s birthday present :)
