Construction

I tried to think of some “natural gas” “fart” “flatulence” jokes but nothing came to me. We’re having gas brought to the house and the guys started digging today. The connection is actually on the other side of the road so they had to dig up our neighbor’s yard (sorry Doug!). I guess there’s some kind of missile they shoot under the road that creates a tunnel they can put the pipe through, kind of neat. They just started digging up our lawn and I was almost too chicken to get a picture, but I went out anyway. I think they got a kick out of it because the construction guys were posing for me. Sorry those didn’t make the blog, but yes they were fully clothed :-P

Cinco de Anniversary (the finale)

Monday afternoon we headed to Rorbach’s for a tour. Yummy!

Afterwards we went for a walk in the High Falls district. We’d never been there before, it was neat to walk the bridge across the Genesee River.

Monday evening we met my mom and Paul for dinner and the baby swap :) Ben was really weirded out when he saw us again and a slow smile crept up on his face. Eventually he was beaming from ear to ear when he realized what was going on. So cute! Thanks again mom and Paul for taking him for the weekend…I know it was sooo terribly inconvenient for you ;-) Andy and I had a lot of fun!

Cinco de Anniversary (still going)

Monday morning we headed to ReHouse, because we’re house nerds. It’s an architectural salvage warehouse that “strives to better the environment by reusing antique, vintage, and modern building materials that would have otherwise gone to the landfill.” Such a very cool place to wander! I bought two neat looking skeleton keys and Andy picked up a Digital Personal Communicator — a Cellular One phone by Motorola ;-)

Cinco de Anniversary Continued

So, back to our anniversary weekend. Sunday afternoon we checked into the B&B and got a tour. Built in 1896, the house was beautiful and filled with details you just don’t see anymore!

After our tour we headed to Olive Garden for dinner (mmm, breadsticks) and a movie. That evening we walked Park Ave together before calling it a night. The next morning I slept in until 8:30…because yes, that’s considered sleeping in now. It was wonderful! We headed downstairs to a breakfast of quiche and fresh fruit (along with bagels, yogurt, oatmeal, coffee and orange juice). Being B&B newbies we weren’t exactly sure what to do at first, but one of the Inn staff came out of the kitchen and took our order and then brought us our food. We met a couple from South Africa who were staying in Rochester for a conference. They were really nice, we chatted for a bit and I realized our lives are kind of boring in comparison. Haha, just kidding, but they were interesting people!

After breakfast we packed up our room and headed out for our Monday adventures. Right after we checked out we walked Park Ave and the surrounding streets again. We loved looking at the old houses and admiring details in the daylight. I absolutely LOVE these houses! I wish you could find one in the country with a bit of acreage (we’d totally jump on it), but unfortunately they’re always in cities crammed on top of each other. We definitely admired them from the sidewalk though!

Ben you’ve been “outside” longer than you were “inside” :) You’re crawling really well now and have definitely picked up speed (although you’re still not fast enough to catch the kitties). You also pull yourself up to a stand and even walked forward a few steps while holding on to the couch. You always try to make sure I’m watching when you, looking around for me to try and get my attention (and waiting for the hysterical clapping and “Yay Benjamin” that follows). Baby gates are up and the crib mattress has been dropped down.

We still nurse three times a day but you pretty much eat anything now (except for peanut butter, acidic fruits, milk, honey…the no no’s). You love table food and get excited when we pass you some of it during meals. You get SO EXCITED when it’s time to eat, you love your food! When meal time is done you also burst into hysterics, even though you’re obviously full. You have your two front bottom teeth and I think you’re working on the top ones because you’ve started drooling like crazy again.

You know the meaning of a few words, I can tell by your reaction and the fact that you look at whatever I’ve said. You know dada, mama, dog, kitty, car, drink and apparently nana ;-) You can’t say most of those back of course, but there are definitely some wheels turning in that little head of yours.

You still don’t like to be put down and would prefer mom hold you all.the.time. When you are left alone though you play fine by yourself. Your favorite toy is this ridiculous circus elephant that has a bunch of things to hide, chew on and tug. You love the little peanuts attached to it and will dig through all your toys to find those things.

Love you little buddy :)
