Cinco de Anniversary

Thanks for the nifty title, Paul :) Andy and I celebrated our 5th anniversary this weekend by staying at a bed & breakfast in the city. My mom and Paul took Ben for his first overnight and we explored Rochester all the next day. It was SO.MUCH.FUN and I did better with the whole separation thing than I thought I would!

Sunday afternoon we met my mom and Paul halfway between our houses (about 30 minutes for us, 45 for them) and did the baby switch. I packed Ben an entire suitcase of diapers, extra clothes, warm clothes, cold weather clothes, toys, night light, baby monitor, hat, sunscreen, swim trunks, extra sippy cups, spoons, bibs and food. Uhm, can we say over prepared? The kid was probably set for a week, but you know how packing with babies is! After we said goodbye Andy and I headed to a park along the canal to do some geocaching. We found the cache and also stumbled on some party that we totally weren’t cool enough for (think Jersey Shore).

After hiking we drove into the city to check into the B&B. It was our first time at a bed & breakfast so I didn’t exactly know what to think, but our host was so friendly she put you right at ease. We stayed at The Edward Harris House in the Park Ave area and our room was beautiful! Kind of a whimsical, Alice in Wonderland feel. The bathroom was french inspired and very chic.

To be continued…when I have a chance to get to the rest of the photos :)

As an aside, when we first walked into the room and Andy was looking around he said “Now THESE are doors.” House nerd!

Just keep swimming

Ben went swimming last weekend when we visited family on the 4th of July (yeah, these pics are kind of a week late). Andy’s mom borrowed a little kiddie pool and we plopped him in to see what he’d think. He loved it, especially the toys floating by! It was definitely less intimidating than the Y pool we went to a few weeks ago. The only problem was that we hadn’t packed his swim diapers (we use disposables when traveling). So his diaper blew up to a ridiculous size as it soaked up a bunch of water. We eventually just let him go au naturale ;-)

4th of July

We went home Saturday to celebrate the 4th of July with family. Monday we had a cook out with some friends back here (although I didn’t get any pictures, boo). No fireworks this year…just friends, food and warm summer weather. Hope everyone had a nice weekend!

Andy’s dad picked this up along the side of the road and fixed it up for Ben :)

Just needs a few more years until he fits!

The boys and Andy’s potato gun launcher. Also, the elusive picture of my brother in law Jared :)

Andy barely fits on his go-cart from when he was a kid, but we rode it anyway (yeah, I did too!)

Ben wanted a turn too :)

Ready, set, GO!

So pretty and peaceful.

We arrived Friday and just hung out. You can see Ben’s two teeth in this picture!

Ben used my old high chair and chewed on the coasters I chewed on as a baby!

Saturday we went for our first bike ride of the season.

Ben wasn’t too sure at first…

But eventually we got smiles.

and we’re still waiting for our wedding present from my mom ;-)
It’s beautiful though, isn’t it!

Pretty gardens! I was waiting for hummingbirds to visit.

img_8315sm

I let Paul play with my camera while I went inside and go figure that’s when hummingbirds
showed up! Picture by Paul, I just brightened it up. Nice shot!

Another great shot by Paul.

Whew, finally finished. Thanks for sticking around for the extremely long post!
